Too often in the church today we have traded in transformation for information, action for apathy, urgency for complacency, and mission for stagnant repetition. The great commandments have become great suggestions, As we embrace and pursue the American dream we no longer see or feel the world’s nightmares of poverty, suffering, or hopelessness. A once great revolution has faded into yet another quiet institution. What if we started to act more out of love than anger? What if our message became less critical and more alluring? what if we worked together with our neighbors to create a community, a city, that benefits everyone living in it? What if the difference that we make begins with me? Better yet, what if the biggest beneficiary in all of that is me?
